ANZ Low Rate Credit Card Review

Reviewed on 19 October 2020 by Vas – credit card expert & co-founder of Compare the Card

With 0% p.a. for 20 months on balance transfers and no annual fee in the first year, the ANZ Low Rate credit card is a great choice for those looking to save on interest they may currently be paying. Its 20 month balance transfer duration is extremely competitive, giving you more time to pay off your balance. Enjoy Apple Pay and Google Pay compatibility as well as complimentary Visa Entertainment membership.

What do we love about this card?

Looking for a balance transfer? With 0% p.a. for 20 months on balance transfers and a low annual fee of $58 p.a. (which is waived in the first year), the ANZ Low Rate credit card has no Balance Transfer Fee and comes with ANZ’s lowest purchase rate of 12.49% p.a. The balance transfer limit is also very competitive, allowing you to transfer up to 95% of your available credit limit, which can often be a limiting factor on other balance transfer cards (which may have a limit as low as 70% or 80%). The generous 55-day interest free period makes it a great everyday credit card too.

The ability to use your card with the top mobile payment systems, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay is also a welcome feature. Another nice-to-have is that you can have up to 3 additional card holders at no additional cost, which is great if you’re looking to share the card. You’ll also enjoy peace of mind with ANZ’s Fraud Money Back Guarantee.

Does this card come with any extras?

You’ll get complimentary membership to Visa Entertainment, which gives you access to special offers, ticket pre-sales and movie screenings.

What could be better?

While this card is a great choice for someone looking for a 0% p.a. balance transfer or low everyday purchase rate, the balance transfer rate reverts to 20.24% p.a. after the introductory period, so aim to pay it off before then.

Summary

The ANZ Low Rate credit card’s 20 month balance transfer offer is a top choice, giving you more time to pay off your balance. Its high balance transfer limit is also a strong point, allowing you to transfer up to 95% of your available credit limit, which can often be a limiting factor on other balance transfer cards.
